Is Forrest Gump one of your favorite films? Do you love Live Oak trees dripping in Spanish Moss? Are you a history or theater buff? Chippewa Square could be your perfect ceremony location!
Chippewa Square is most well-known for the “Life is like a box of chocolates” bus-stop scene from Forrest Gump. It is easy to see why producers chose this location, for the beautiful trees, and quintessential Savannah southern charm.
This square is rich in history as well, from the center statue of General James Ogelthorpe, who founded the colony of Georgia in 1733, to the Battle of Chippewa during the War of 1812, where this square received it’s namesake.
This square was also the center of Savannah’s nightlife, and still is home to the Savannah Theatre, which is the oldest theatre in America still operating at it’s original location. You can catch a live show at the theatre during your trip and take a photo in front of the iconic marquee. You can even get your names in lights on the marquee. Ask us how!
A great reception venue is also located right off of the square, Bryson Hall. Maybe this is the perfect location for you!
